It started as a way to use my nervous energy. It ended up with a championship
I grabbed some sock yarn from my stash - Knit Picks Static - that I could knit without worrying about lining up stripes for heels and the like, so I could just knit, knit, knit during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
I made it through the first sock during the first game of the Western Conference Finals.
I chose a new skein for the second game of the Conference Finals.
And a third skein for the fourth game.
And then, one more as the Avs swept the Oilers.
I didn't finish the socks in each game, but by the time the next round started, I was set.
And then it was time for the Stanley Cup Finals. So I started over. Game One Yarn for Game One, Game Two Yarn for Game Two...you get the point.
Game 1 we won
Game 2 we won
Game 3 we lost - badly - uh oh - I am going to need a 5th skein.
Game 4 we won
Game 5 we got outplayed. I was so not happy during the game, I barely knit.
Game 6 we won. I was on the runway in Minneapolis when it happened, knitting the Game 5 yarn that I hardly used for game 4 (I had been out at a bar in Rochester).
